Hiroki Matsuda

Hiroki Matsuda joined Sozo Ventures in September 2016.

Hiroki Matsuda is a Managing Director at Sozo Ventures, where he does extensive data analysis to select portfolio candidates, works closely with LPs to develop global-market strategies for startups, and does value creation for portfolio companies before and after investment. Mr. Matsuda also leads analysis of the innovation activities of large corporations, often the best customers of startups, to increase the success rate for those new businesses. Mr. Matsuda is uniquely qualified to help entrepreneurs expand globally because he is the rare member of his generation with a deep understanding of the culture and business of startups and innovation in both Japan and the U.S.

Before joining Sozo Ventures, Mr. Matsuda worked for Accenture as a management consultant. In nearly five years in Accenture, Mr. Matsuda participated in over 10 consulting projects for Fortune 500 organizations in various industries such as IT, manufacturing, consumer goods, utilities, and public services. He heavily engaged in various management consulting projects for large corporations including planning and implementation of company-wide transform strategies, organizational reform strategies, business process reform strategies.

Mr. Matsuda received a Master of International Affairs from the University of California, San Diego, School of Global Policy and Strategy, and also graduated from Keio University with a BA in Business and Commerce and a minor in International Relations. He is a visiting researcher at Waseda University and a member of Kauffman Fellows Class 26. Also, he serves as an advisor to the Kamiyama Foundation.
